Common questions

Still unsure? Call, text, or book a diagnostic window.

Do you come to me, or do I drop off?+

We are mobile only. We come to your home or office across Greater Houston. No shop drop-off required.

How fast can you get here?+

Many weekdays we offer same-day windows when you book or text before about 3pm. Sunday is by appointment. You’ll get a confirmed arrival window by phone or text.

Is the diagnostic really free?+

On-site diagnostics are free when you approve same-day repair. If you decline work, a $49 diagnostic fee may apply and is explained upfront before we start.

Do parts cost extra?+

Yes. Labor is listed separately from parts. We quote both before ordering anything — no surprise warehouse markup.

Can I buy my own parts?+

Absolutely. We can share a compatible Amazon or Newegg link (affiliate-supported, disclosed) and still handle the install for the labor fee. Or we can order parts for you after you approve the quote.

What happens to my files and passwords?+

Your data stays on your device unless you ask for a backup or transfer. We don’t browse personal files for curiosity, don’t keep customer passwords after the job, and don’t install remote-access tools without your permission.

Do you need my Microsoft or Apple password?+

Only if the repair requires signing in (for example, BitLocker, iCloud, or account recovery). You can enter passwords yourself. We never ask you to email passwords.

What’s your warranty?+

Labor on completed repairs is covered for 30 days for the same issue. Parts follow manufacturer terms. If we can’t fix it, you don’t pay for the failed repair attempt beyond any agreed diagnostic.

Do you work on Macs and Chromebooks?+

Yes for common software, cleanup, and many upgrades. Some Mac hardware (especially glued batteries or proprietary screens) may need parts lead time or a specialist referral — we’ll say so before you pay.

How do I track my repair?+

Every callback request gets a job reference (like HPR-XXXX). Use the Status page on this site, or text us your reference for an update. Cal.com bookings also get calendar confirmation by email.

Do you offer managed IT or monthly monitoring?+

No. Houston PC Repairs is break-fix — virus cleanup, screens, data recovery, and on-site labor. Home network, cameras, and monthly monitoring are Houston Secure IT at houstonsecureit.com. Offices that need someone watching the network should use their Secure Business plan, not a PCR membership.

What is the Priority Plan?+

For $249/year you get faster scheduling, remote triage when helpful, and one annual tune-up. It’s for households that want a go-to tech without waiting in a shop line.

Do you offer referral credits?+

Yes. When a neighbor books and mentions your name or referral code, you both get $25 credit toward a future on-site visit (labor only, one credit per completed referred job).
